Owner Mary E. O’Byrne has always had a passion for serving those in need. She began her career in the health insurance and managed care industries but soon discovered that she most wanted to help people rather than corporations. For over 20 years, Mary has concentrated in estate and special needs planning, and is a tireless advocate for the financial independence for people with disabilities.
Mary has been a frequent teacher and speaker on these topics for the Maryland State Bar Association and other state and national educational forums; she has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Admitted to the Maryland bar, Mary is a member of the Special Needs Alliance (currently President-Elect) and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). She is the immediate past President of the Board of Directors of NAMI-Metro Baltimore. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association.
Mary is a graduate of Yale University, received her master’s in business administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, graduating Order of the Coif.
Mary received the Chapter Member of the Year Award, Maryland by the MD/DC Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She has been named a Super Lawyer in Estate Planning and Probate in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Since 2013, she has led the Special Needs Trust Advocates group related to the Social Security Administration. In 2015, she was appointed to the Governor’s Task Force on ABLE Accounts.
