Richard “Ricky” Adams is an associate attorney with O’Byrne Law, LLC. Ricky’s approach to the practice of law incorporates a holistic and compassionate form of advocacy. He enjoys working with clients of all ages, backgrounds, and needs, and his practice includes assisting with the legal needs of same-sex couples and other members of the LGBTQ community.

Licensed to practice in Maryland, Ricky received his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law and earned his B.S. in Gerontology and Legal Studies at the University of Maryland University College. He recently earned a Certificate in Estate Planning from UB Law. He has experience in administering trusts and estates in a cost-effective manner, working to preserve the assets for the heirs, beneficiaries, and other family members through counsel and advice regarding distributions and associated rights.

Ricky is active in several professional and community organizations, including serving as a Board Member for the Baltimore County Provider Council, the Maryland LGBT Chamber of Commerce, and he serves on the Advisory Board for the LGBTQ Fund of the Baltimore Community Foundation. He is also very active within the Maryland State Bar Association, Baltimore County Bar Association, Bar Association of Baltimore City, LGBTQ Bar Association of Maryland, and the National LGBT Bar Association. He is also a member of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council, the Coalition of Geriatric Services, Geriatric Assistance Information Network, and the Maryland Gerontological Association.

Ricky received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2018 from the Bar Association of Baltimore City Senior Legal Services Committee, was named a Generation J.D. Leadership in Law winner by The Daily Record in 2019 and was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Estate Planning and Probate in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
